Hillbilly Hide-a-way - Date: Sat, Feb 20, 2010
 
The Singles Travel Club (couples welcome too!), is sponsoring a bus trip to the Hillbilly Hide-a-way, Walnut Cove, NC, on Saturday, February 20, 2010.  At the Hillbilly Hide-a-way, the group will feast on an all you can eat, all inclusive, Family Style Meal, consisting of such things as: fried chicken, meat loaf, country ham, barbeque ribs, pinto beans, potatoes, green beans, creamy corn, slaw, baked apples, banana pudding, cobbler, cake, coffee, tea and sodas. Following dinner, the group will enjoy a music show in the music barn. The show will feature Bluegrass, Gospel and Country Music.      The Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to the Highland Maple Festival in Monterey, VA, on Saturday, March 13, 2010.

Rock Churches of the Blue Ridge Parkway - Date: Sat, Apr 3, 2010

Botetourt County Parks, Recreation & Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to tour the Rock Churches of the Blue Ridge Parkway, built by Rev. Bob Childress, on Saturday, April 3, 2010. This trip is in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway during the year 2010. The group will travel to Fancy Gap, VA, for a brief orientation tour at the historical Carroll County Courthouse. They will pick up a step-on guide and begin the tour up the Blue Ridge Parkway. The focus will be on the six historical rock churches built by the Rev. Bob Childress. These churches are oon Buffalo Mountain, Slate Mountain and the counties of Carroll, Patrick and Floyd. In a biography entitled "The Man Who Moved A Mountain," it is told how Rev. Childress braved the wilderness and brought the light of the gospel to wild and brutal areas. The Hillsville Massacre in 1912 helped Bob Childress to realize that the drinking, fighting and killings so much a part of the mountain peoples lives were not normal.  The Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to the matinee of "The Sound of Music" at the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre, Wytheville, VA, on Saturday, April 24, 2010.  The Wohlfahrt Haus is alive with The Sound of Music. Be captivated by Maria as she leaves the convent to become governors to Captain Von Trapp's 7 children. The children come to love her after she introduces them to the joy of music. As Maria and the Captain begin to fall in love, witness the struggle of romance in 1938 Austria, which is quickly disrupted by Nazi Germany's Annexation.
